“From the earth to the world”
RIDER FACTS
- Bruno Santos is a busy man. He’s the CEO of his family’s packaging business. He’s also the father of two small children aged 5 and 8. Fortunately his family are very supportive of his motorcycle racing.
- A keen sportsman, he likes to stay fit by cycling. He’s only been racing enduro for the last 12 years.
- His rally ‘career’ started back in 2019 when he finished 15th on the Merzouga Rally in Morocco. He then DNFed on the 2021 Rallye du Maroc before winning his Dakar place on the 2023 Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, finishing 5th in Rally 2.
- His first Dakar, last year, started very well when his helmet was voted best design by Dakar fans. It showed scenes from his region to which he is extremely attached -the sea on one side, windmills on the other. Winning the prize was a good omen, as he went on to finish a highly respectable 28th overall.
2025 AMBITIONS
“I come from an agricultural region on the coast between Porto and Lisbon. I love my region and the people who live there. They are very important to me. My slogan for this year’s Dakar is: ‘From earth to the world’. I borrowed it from my main sponsor, who are major fruit and vegetable producers. It seems to fit what I’m doing, leaving the place I was born to go out into the world. I’m just a normal family guy, who has to work for a living, to look after his family. I’m not a professional racer, but somebody who started to ride bikes late. It means people can identify with me and what I am doing. What I want to share with the people here is my dream and the possibility for them also to achieve their dreams.”
