Austin Jones: “I’m excited there’s only two more days of it”

 On terrain that he does not really like, Austin Jones played it safe, contenting himself with fifth place on stage twelve which was won by his team-mate Mitchell Guthrie. With a lead of more than one hour in the general rankings, the T3 category leader can start to look forward to arriving in Dammam…  

 “The stage was really good for us today. We have a pretty decent lead right now, so we wanted to conserve it as much as possible, but then I realised we were going too slow at the beginning and it was almost going to get us into more trouble. So, we picked up the pace a little bit and we finished out the stage like that. I think we got place two, but that might change. But for right now, that’s pretty good. We’ve kept our lead the way it is, so everything is all good over here. For sure, the Empty Quarter is not my favourite – I’m not going to lie – but everyone has to do it, and it is pretty; it’s nice to look at. Sometimes driving in it is a little bit sketchy. So, I’m excited there’s only two more days of it”.
