Having started out as a race truck mechanic, Behringer once came close to participating in the Dakar in a car, but when that project fell through he leapt at the chance to discover the world's most famous rally in an assistance truck, making his debut in 2007. Away from racing he is a keen Borussia Dortmund fan, and even travelled 700 kilometres from his home to Berlin to watch BVB beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Cup final this year. He also plans to be in Russia to see Germany lift the FIFA World Cup in 2018.
