Martin Macík: “It was like connecting two really, really hard stages together”

The title holder took advantage of the difficulties encountered by Van Den Brink and Loprais to win the 48 HR Chrono stage and take command of the general rankings…

“We won the Chrono 48, which is great, but it was f*****g tough, man! From the beginning, it was like connecting two really, really hard stages together. Normally, when you finish one that lasts 450 km or something like that you are exhausted, but here it was double. Also, for the truck it was really demanding, especially with all the trees and all the dust, because we were following all the cars and buggies and were switching the position every fifty kilometres, something like that. It was up and down, up and down, every day. It was good at the Chrono 48 bivouac, we arrived in first place, but today everything went wrong. We got stuck three times and we couldn’t climb the dunes because they were so soft. Also, we had to take care of the truck because I destroyed the suspension and a spring as well, so there was lots of stuff to deal with”.
