The Dutchman and his hybrid truck are among the entrants fighting for the scraps a step below the Kamazes. He came in sixth today.

"The Dakar is going well. We lost some time due to a problem on the opening day, but everything has gone smoothly since then. Today went great. There were loads of dust, but it looks like we finished sixth and we were able to go head to head with Loprais and Martin van den Brinke, so we're happy. We were going flat out. Every truck at the front of the race is on the limit. Our goal is to crack the top 10."
