Alexandre Giroud: "I'm very happy to win this prologue"

The winner of the last Dakar and reigning world champion, Alexandre Giroud, started the 2023 edition in style by claiming the prologue outside the Sea Camp bivouac —another reason for him to celebrate on New Year's Eve.

"This prologue was very nice, very fast. No sand, just a lot of dirt. I'm very happy to win this prologue, but [let's take it] step by step, tomorrow is another day and I hope to have the same day tomorrow."
