The Chilean, who was the only double winner this week in the bike category, will start the second week in 4th position in the general rankings, 14 minutes behind his team-mate Ricky Brabec.
“It was quite an experience. It was a long stage. I started out in the front group so I knew I could lose a lot of time. I think I lost quite some minutes, but I opened more than half of the stage, so I think I did a pretty good job. I gave my best and I’m calm about that, so we will see. We’ve finished our first week of racing I think quite strongly. Now we’ll have a good rest and get prepared for the second one. It’s ups and downs, but even on the bad days I did my best and I did pretty solid stages. On some starts I was maybe too much in front in terms of strategy, but I had good pace and good navigation. Overall, I’m strong, happy and now I’ll try to get a good rest to fight again during the second week”.
