Tim has finished ten Dakar rallies, whilst Tom has completed five… unless it is the opposite! This year, they will once again be taking part in the adventure in the same vehicle, with loftier ambitions this time.
Only people who know them very well can tell them apart. On the Dakar, it has been possible to know which one is which thanks to their race numbers, because they have often each participated in single-place buggies. However, this time, Tim and Tom Coronel will be competing as a pair just like they did in 2009. That year, they completed the rally in Buenos Aires in 70th position. However, their plans this year, built around a superb buggy soberly christened The Beast, should allow them to aim much higher: “We wanted to change and this type of buggy, in a similar style to Robby Gordon, appealed to us,” explains Tom. “So we contacted our preparer Damen Jefferies, who designed this buggy. We call it The Beast, but it’s no joke! It has got huge potential, which should allow us to finish around 25th place and even finish some stages around 15th place”.
