“Tribute to the 1982 Adventurers”
Paris-Dakar 1982. A Team of 3 UMM cars under the leadership of Jose Megre entered the race with the slogan: “3 cars in the departure, 3 cars in the finish line”. The participation of Joao Costa and Luis Galvao is a small tribute to Jose Megre (The Iconic father o Portuguese Off-Road) and his companions, making the return to the Dakar of one of the few car brands Made in Portugal and that sadly disappeared in the beginning of the XXI Century.
Joao Costa: “Being a passionate of off-Road the Dakar was always the final goal. After living and racing many years in the United Arab Emirates, I thought that my participation in Dakar Classic 2022 was the icing on the cake! Well it was not, the project to make an UMM return to the Dakar was important enough to make another come back. I’m anxious to return again to the sand pit and do the best to perform in a way that, wherever he his, Jose Megre can be proud of us. Made In Portuga! Made to Last!”
