«I plan on being an actor in this race»
Orlando Terranova is raring to go and he knows there are several cars capable of competing for a top result. While he is a bit apprehensive ahead of this second attempt in the car category, a degree of his motivation remains in tact. “I know that the level will be very high”, says the Argentinean, who had to accept his fate on that dark day when he retired in 2009. “We wanted to avoid a biker, and it all happened in a split second. It wasn’t driver error or a navigation mistake. It was just bad luck that happens from time to time.” This year, Orlando has experienced a radical change in moving from the BMW X-Raid team to the new JMB Off Road squad, which has entered five Mitsubishi Lancers. “It is a very nice car to drive”, said “Orli” after testing for a week in Morocco along with his new team mate, the experienced Pascal Maimon. “I have both confidence in this car and this team, in which you can feel the many years of experience. With this alchemy, I have the feeling we can run an intelligent race and provoke our own destiny. “Terranova was in 7th place overall on the day he dropped out in 2009. The 2010 objective will be to be just as competitive and everyone knows that from this position anything can happen. “You always have to have some luck, but it isn’t far-fetched to aim for the podium. I know that there are a good half dozen drivers capable of doing it and I am counting on being one of the actors in this rally.”
