“Finish the Dakar as a team”
Vicente Benedictis Neto, from São Paulo, 27 years old, comes from a family that has for long been involved in Brazilian motorcycling. He began riding a motorcycle at the age of 5, moving on to MotoCross, Enduro and Cross Country. In 2006, he chose Rally as his favorite category in off road motorcycling, and since then he has become an assiduous competitor in the Rally dos Sertões, part of the Rally Cross Country world championship.
The Rally Dakar was a far away dream, but one day Vicente decided to call his friend Jean de Azevedo, a renowned name in the bike category in Brazil and the world. Vicente asked him if he would be willing to participate in the Dakar, and his reply was yes. Since then (August of 2009), Vicente Benedictis Neto joined the riders and personal friends Tiago Fantozzi and Carlos Ambrósio, and ran against the clock to prepare for the 2010 edition, forming the largest Brazilian team in the bike category of the Dakar.
According to Vicente, what is the most important aspect is to be present in the biggest off road competition in the world, to run a good race and to get to know places that he would never know if he didn’t have the privilege of participating in a competition of this magnitude. “Our goal is to finish the Dakar as a team and as individuals, making the most of it, and also seeing places the Rally provides for all those who are involved,” says Benedictis.
