“Just finish and have fun”
After four serious setbacks Marcel Schoo returns to the Dakar in a truck prepared by his very own Dakar Team Holland. The Dutchman indeed failed to finish the last four editions on South American soil in a Ginaf at first and then in his own Tatra. The 44-year-old, who started his Dakar career in a car in 2007, finishing in 72nd spot, wants to finally see that finish line in a truck. With his team mates Michel Van Herpen and Jacobus De Wit, the Dakar will also be a good opportunity to raise money and awareness for the “Racing Against Cancer” charity foundation.
M.S.: “The 2007 Dakar remains my best memory when we managed to finish in a Desert Warrior car. The worst one was of course when we had to quit for medical reasons after 5 stages two years ago and the other rallies that we had to quit. I prepared for the Dakar by competing in the Dutch autocross championship. I also did a lot of physical training. This year, I hope to reach the finish. Just finish and have fun.”
