“Looking forward to the overall experience”
As a bike instructor and a neighbour of Robby Gordon in North Carolina, it seemed only natural that Bill Conger would take on the Dakar. After switching from car to bike racing, the American believes he's now ready for the biggest of all off-road challenges. Physically prepared and having spoken to many former Dakar riders to gain experience, Bill hopes to live the Dakar at its fullest and reach the finish in Lima.
“I originally started by car racing but then I got into motorcycles. For the last 4 or 5 years I've been competing on a bike and I believe I'm now good enough for the Dakar. The first challenge is to make it to the end. I have a good understanding of the rally itself. I got to speak to guys like Jonah Street and Charlie Rauseo who gave me some tips on their experience. I've planned to meet Robby Gordon who has his workshop right next to my house. I want to take it all in! I also attended a navigation school in California with the Pan Am team. I'm ready now and looking forward to the overall experience. My main concern is having a mechanical problem.”
