Luis Ferreira : «To finish on the podium…in 2012»
He is 21 and already hungry for success but Portuguese rider Luis Ferreira isn’t expecting to create miracles in this his Dakar debut. He is here to “watch, study and learn.” And accumulate experience…His objective? He’s aiming more for “2011 or 2012 », when this pro rider from the Bianchi Prata team would like to “finish on the podium.”
He knows he’s not there yet. There’s a long road to travel, a ton of dust to be swallowed, and most of all a first Dakar to be finished. But is he capable? He doesn’t doubt it for a second: “I’m young and I’m patient. These are my strengths. The rally in Argentina and Chile could help me: we’ll be riding on terrain that is similar to what we have in Portugal.” The ambitious Ferreira will rely on his on his superb fitness to go the distance. But he’s approaching the rally with humility. ”I’m worried about the long distances », Luis explains. “With so many kilometres to cover, I’ll have to pay attention and never loose focus…” On the other hand, Luis has no worries about his equipment. Despite a small problem recently on the Rally of Brazil, he remains confident in his BMW and the Bianchi Prata mechanics.
