Norbert Dubois: "Father Christmas came to the desert"
“Anyhow, if you’re looking for adventure, you have to go to South America or Africa”. Norbert Dubois will be well served. The man who already finished three Dakars in the leading 40 will discover a new terrain and that delights him: “I’m very happy. The leap to the other side of the Atlantic gives a new interest at all levels. I will discover two new countries. In a year, I will have competed on four continents: Europe, Asia, Africa and America because I trained in Morocco and took part in the Transorientale”. Norbert Dubois, who likes enjoying the sites when he rides remains a very good competitor with indeed a 31st spot in 2006 that proves that he is part of those amateur riders able to fight it out with the most prepared bikers. With only one withdrawal in five Dakars, Norbert Dubois has made a name of himself on the rally. "I don’t want to add extra pressure, he explains. I’m 47 years old and I can’t just stop working before the Dakar. I’ve already beaten top guns. And on the Transorientale, I was the first French rider before my fall. So if I can manage the same kind of performance, I will. But I don’t intend on taking risks”. Head of a company and known for his spirit of solidarity, Norbert is about to live a new Dakar adventure. “It’s a privilege to compete in this race”, he adds with enthusiasm.
