Manuel Borrero: “I’m made for the race in a T4”

Out of the three, only one has previously participated in the Dakar. Back in 2007, Manuel Borrero was co-driver for Alfonso Nicolás Díaz (78th). Although it is not much to start, this team from Andalusia is confident. Their lack of concern is based on Manuel’s experience. “I was made for this race”, says this businessman from Huelva, Spain. And it looks like the area where he live sis also ideal to prepare a Dakar. “There’s sand. I’m very comfortable on this type of terrain. I also know that I’m a good driver”. To further illustrate this point, we have his results in the Baja Spain 2007. “It was my debut in a speed race and we finished 3rd. I believe I am made for the T4 world.” The perspective of discovering a new game field doesn’t worry him too much. His official goal is to finish. Manuel however admits he has slight apprehension concerning the altitude and the tracks at the beginning of the event. “It’ll be a surprise for everyone”. One can easily understand that Manuel has some ambition and that he hopes to quickly reach sand where he knows that he can gain twenty positions in just a few hours of driving. At his side: the man he considers like his friend and his man of confidence, Daniel Camara, an off-road vehicle specialist at his garage ‘Tece4X4’. Daniel will discover the Dakar with the caution that one should have. “We know that it’ll be tough. We will driver at our rhythm but the Dakar Series gave us confidence”.
