Jean-François Trolard: «My ankle is deteriorating»
Jean-François put aside his dreams of glory for several years. He saw himself as a future world champion, but then circumstances saw his life take a different direction. Jean-Francois took a nasty spill off a horse four years ago; He broke his ankle and could not continue to take part in the multitude of sports he enjoyed. He was only allowed to carry on riding his motorcycle. Today, his Dakar participation is the final challenge before another operation that will force him to park his machine, forever. «My ankle is deteriorating. So it is now or never. » Clearly motivated, Jean-François will do whatever it takes to complete this one shot attempt. «I have been taking inflammatory medication for the past eight months. I couldn’t’t ride, so for sure I will fight all the way to the end. » Jean-François caught the Dakar virus a long time ago. «I am from Orleans, like Cyril Neveu and I watched the stages on the morning of New Year’s Day. » He became friends with well known Dakar figure, David Castera during the seasons he raced in enduro and it was Castera who told him of the landscapes to be covered on the South American edition. «I have done the Tunisia Rally, I have ridden in Morocco. I had specific images in my head of the Dakar in Africa. But on this one everyone will have a new regard for the race. «I didn’t want to do a Dakar with people who say ’beware there is a stone behind that baobab. » Jean-Francois will enjoy himself. And who knows, rediscover some of his sporting feelings that, in the end, are built for life.
