Javier Herrador: “I would like to finish best privateer”

Is it because he lives by the sea or because he works under water? For Javier Herrador, tranquillity is a second nature. In his own way he has an answer to everything: probably due to the calm of the adventurers who have lived a lot. It looks like nothing troubles him. Logically, he found in the Dakar a domain where he can show what he has inside him. His first two appearances were real adventures. “In 2003 we didn’t have assistance or a mechanic and all the material was in the car that must have weighed 3500 kilos”. He still managed to finish that edition as well as the following one. Javier then decided to start his own assistance structure: “I wanted to offer a service to people like me, to privateers so they can do off-road rallies and even the Dakar with a good service”. Today Herrador Competition, launched in 2007 is already part of the rally panorama: over ten crews will be serviced on this Dakar and Pablo Rodriguez is the first to compete with the prototype conceived by Javier. “We’ve created a little assembly structure to produce around ten protos a year. The idea is to have a reliable car that only necessitates a few spare parts. We have a Mitsubishi engine and a sequential box. For 150000 € this car, conceived for the Dakar is very competitive”. Always alert, Javier has already managed a great deal ever since his first steps in the family customs company in Madrid: “I’m also an adventurer in the every day life”, explains the man from Andalusia who intends on finishing his fourth Dakar by enjoying himself although having clear objectives with his new co-driver Victor Vico: “I would like to finish best privateer and be in the battle for several stage victories”.
