Boris Bukatov : «We were really very close »
Boris Bukatov and Sergey Dodonov have experienced two failures on the Dakar, one due to a mechanical problem and the other was an accident, but the two Russians are back for another go and with just as much vigour and motivation. “Obviously, we want to finish the rally, and we have said to ourselves that it is possible because the last two times we were really very close”, Boris says.
The two Muscovites are eager to discover Argentina and Chile. “It is very far from Russia, so this is a unique opportunity to go and for more than just vacation”, rejoices Boris. “I love the Dakar for its spirit of adventure, the chance to meet many other drivers and to explore all type of terrain. I have been to Africa several times, for the Dakar and other rallies, so I’m very happy to go and discover new lands”, adds Sergey.
Boris and Sergey dreamed about the Dakar for many years. They grew up with the images of the Master Rally and then later on discovered the Dakar, when footage from the west was made available after the dismantling of the Soviet block. Boris and Sergey are making up for lost time as they begin their third Dakar.
