Ivar Erik Tollefsen: “My co-driver is perfect”

“Always brake late. In rally as in life”. The website of Ivar Erik Tollefsen says it all. The Norwegian is the driver of an ambitious crew. “We’re capable of finishing in the Top 10 of every single stage”, says co-driver Quin Evans, before tempering: “At the same time, there are even more excellent drivers. Overall, it’s really difficult to make a forecast”. Seeing their 16th spot overall in 2006 and their disappointing 30th position in 2007, “due to a mechanical problem”, the crew seems to anyhow have the means for their ambitions. Especially because this year, the two friends will take off in “one of the most competitive cars of the race”. As well as a good performance, the Norwegian driver hopes that this year for this new edition he will spend “a fantastic moment with my friends and my co-driver”, a co-driver who is “perfect, enthusiastic, experienced and in love with the Dakar”. Before taking on the adventure with Ivar Erik Tollefsen, Quin Evans already had three Dakar rallies on his record in an assistance team. “It’s even tougher than as a competitor because added to the navigation all day long, you have to repair the material of the drivers while they sleep!” The Brit eventually found himself alongside the Norwegian after the withdrawal of Ivar’s co-driver. The harmony is perfect and so is the communication. In English: “Ivar Erik only speaks Norwegian when he swears”, laughs Quin Evans.
