Corine Dubois: “The quad class is the most dangerous of all categories”

Between her company that she manages on her own and her children, Corine Dubois is a busy lady. But from the 3rd to the 19th of January, she’ll only have one thing in mind, the rally. For her first Dakar, the quad rider expects to live “a magical experience” but also very difficult: “the very long stages, the late finishes, the big dunes, the prickly bush…” The traps will be numerous on the tracks of Chile and Argentina. But the Tarn native is scared: “We know that we’re going there to suffer…” This year, Corine will travel through Argentina and Chile on her quad. She enjoys riding this machine with which she has “a better feeling and a bigger sense of freedom” than in a car. But while she will take off confident, helped out by the MD Rally team that she describes as “a war machine”, she remains well aware of the dangers of riding a quad: “It’s a lot more dangerous than any other category, including bikes”. This first Dakar will actually be her last on a quad. As soon as next year, she indeed wants to set off again on the rally as the co-driver of Pascal Thomasse, her companion who will this year do the Dakar in a buggy and who will be of precious help to accompany the rider from Castres in terms of experience. First steps that she hopes will take her, “whatever the ranking” all the way to Buenos Aires. After that it’ll be time to go back to Southern France to take care of her company and children.
