Marc Guasch: “Everyone will be at the same level”
He began competing at age 15. That was back in 1989 and he already could not get out of his head the images of the Dakar. He has had to go a long way, but finally this year he is ready to take up this great challenge. He has no great ambitions, but is determined to take advantage of any opportunity that presents itself during the race. Marc has a name and has experience and he does not hide the fact that he is ready to get results: “I can barely consider myself an amateur. I’m not just an amateur that has decided to make a dream come true. Although that is part of it, I have expectations and I am very well prepared.” He knows that this 31st edition will be very demanding and he prepared physically for it. Marc Guasch also made a new choice for his vehicle switching from a KTM 525 to a 690 Rallye. A machine he was able to test all along a rich and varied 2008 season.
“I only have one certainty, he analyses, the circumstances are such that everyone will be at the same level”. Marc who was already worried about the dunes of Mauritania will still have to face a great deal of sand: “The advice I was given is to follow the rut. We will see…”. Marc, as all rookies, does not have everything under control. This is also why he can barely wait to take up this legendary challenge.
