Christina Meier had lifted earth and sky to see the bivouac. "At the start I was ready to do anything: be part of a staff, an assistance crew or even to compete. I just really wanted to be part of the adventure".
Fascinated by the desert since she saw a series of pictures of Africa in 1999, Christina Meier has always wanted to visit the big landscapes on her bike. Taking part in the unique experience of the Dakar was just too obvious for the Hamburg native.
During two years and a half, she took part in several rallies: the Red Bull Romaniacs, the Berlin-Breslau rally and the Touareg. She also went twice to Tunisia to improve in the sand of the desert and learn how to use a roadbook.
To that technical training, Christina Meier adds other preparation elements slightly more unusual. Indeed she does yoga because she knows that the mind has a key role in a race like the Dakar: “I know you don’t get to the end of such an event just thanks to muscles, but mainly thanks to your mind power. And I’m determined".
