PREPARATION

The quality of the moments you will spend on the rally will depend a great deal on the way you will have prepared them. To show up at the start in the best possible way and make sure the chances are present to live the adventure all the way to the end, one can't neglect the slightest aspect of the project: technical, physical or money-wise, it is obviously better to be prepared at all levels.

A profitable session!

Before taking part, all first-comers to the event and those wishing to correct shortcomings or generally improve their performance, should be able to master the tips and tricks of the trade which will enable them to accomplish their adventure. Thus, for the third year running, the rally’s organization team proposes accompanying you in making your personal and sporting challenge a success via the Dakar training courses.

Over a two-day period, two Dakar Courses will be organized in 2006. By taking part, you will be stacking up all the cards on your side.

The DAKAR is a race made up of over 80 % amateurs who battle alongside professionals in the discipline. Over and beyond help proposed in searching of sponsors (Competitors DVD available at concurrents@dakar.com), regulations with preferential conditions for amateurs and the DAKAR school. MUTUAIDE

For the second year in a row, A.S.O joins with MUTUAIDE for all medical problems during the DAKAR, because of its specific competencies in assistance for important sporting events. It is a team of more than 50 medical and paramedical professionals, able to intervene in extreme cases and who will watch over competitors on the road or the bivouac. At the same time, a logistic unit will take place in Paris 24h a day to organise all the medical repatriations in the best conditions.

A long distance rally such as the DAKAR, which takes place in desert or tropical zones, requires impeccable health and imposes substantial physical and psychological stress on every participant.

However, preparation for it is all too frequently neglected. It is a true sporting trial, a daily competition against others but also against yourself. Our role is therefore to make you aware and help you tackle your physical preparation for the trial better. Rest day

A trip especially devoted to Dakar rally enthusiasts. The bivouac, mechanics, meals with the competitors… you will share in this very particular moment with the Dakar drivers and their teams when the competitors recover their strength a little before the final home straight and their machines can at last recuperate. You will even be able to watch the start of the Selective Section, in the desert, the following day.

Join the Dakar at the heart of Black Africa. You will discover the riches of Mali: the varied landscapes, the smiling faces, the traditional villages… without forgetting the race and its emotions.
