Steffan Claeys: “We’ve completely designed our own buggy”
They could actually be the duo of a police movie, marked by the difference of their characters. On one side, Werner Zoetaert, the experienced fighter with four Dakar rallies on his record (including two withdrawals), driver, professional mechanic, he was the one who designed the buggy in which both friends will take off. On the other, Steffan Claeys, absolute newcomer, not the slightest Dakar, who is about to discover a race with quite some anxiety. Steffan Clayes hopes that he’ll be a good enough co-driver at the height of the ambitions of his driver and friend Werner Zoetaert. Both men have prepared for the race for over two years that they spent at working on their registration and designing their two-wheel drive buggy. A huge preparation that is about to end and that they hope will help them all along the rally. After two withdrawals during his two appearances in 2003 and 2004, Werner Zoetaert is extremely motivated to take his buggy all the way to Dakar. For his first appearance, Steffan Claeys would also certainly be happy to make it to the Lac Rose.
