Whether taking part in the race itself, involved in race assistance or purely as assistance vehicles, trucks have a dominating role throughout the Dakar. No less than 25 vehicles will be taking part in the 2006 edition.
With solid experience on the African continent, Renault Trucks is quite naturally involved in the Dakar adventure. For over 5 editions, Renault Trucks has been alongside competitors with its Renault Keraxes. Dedicated preparation and accumulated rally experience, together with 22,000 kms in the Silk Route log book across 5 deserts, have confirmed Renault Keraxes as trucks that can deal with extreme conditions, sturdy, reliable, quick and fleet across all terrains.
Renault Trucks is official supplier to the 28th Lisbon-Dakar Rally and will continue to be so up to 2008.
4 Renault Keraxes are used by the organisation for reconnaissance missions but also to provide assistance to competitors who may need such. Backing up Elisabete Jacinto of the Trifen Team, togetehr with the Schlesser, Nissan or Molina teams among others, the role of Renault Keraxes has been widely recognized for the past several years. At the same time, Renault Trucks is committing 2 Renault Keraxes as an assistance team. True workshop trucks with a crew of 6, they follow the race so as to be on hand at the bivouacs at each stage and provide assistance to the Renault Keraxes entered by teams of the 2006 Euromilhões Dakar.
