For autos and trucks, ASO will provide fuel when there is no local petrol station available on the race itinerary.
Local stations will be indicated in the road book.
In October, we will send details on mileage and a description of the stages so you can place your orders.
The following tariffs applied to the 2004 Dakar for fuel specially provided by A.S.O. at two bivouacs:
AVGAS: €3.05/litre
Super: €2.75/litre

Substantial increases in petrol prices occurred this year, A.S.O. will provide definitive tariffs in October for fuel charges for the coming Dakar.
BOAT
The outgoing trip Spain-Morocco and the return trip Senegal (Dakar)-France are included in the vehicle flat rate and the registration fees for all categories (motorbikes, auto, truck and assistance). The lump sum includes transport of vehicles provided they comply with the dimensions stipulated in the regulations. In the event lengths are exceeded or a container is requested, additional charges will be made. A boat form will be sent in September so you can provide details on these items.
DRIVING COURSES - THE DAKAR SCHOOL
Going further
Helping amateur drivers successfully confront a tremendous human challenge and fulfil their dreams is the main aim of the Dakar. To begin the adventure under the best possible conditions and avoid spoiling the experience because of elementary driving mistakes or navigation errors, last year the "Dakar Training Courses" were instituted, providing practical and theoretical training for the Dakar.
On the programme: circumventing obstacles, using the GPS, studying road books etc. The programme is organised by top specialists in rally raids, starting with the creator of the race himself, Patrick Zaniroli.
After the success of the Narbonne session in preparation for the 2004 Dakar, two theoretical courses in France and a practical course in Morocco (open to all) enabled drivers to acquire indispensable basic knowledge and familiarise themselves with the world of the Dakar. Any new competitor, either auto or motorbike, can participate in one of the two courses in France for a fixed charge of €100*.
Dates:
French courses: 10 and 11 July/18 and 19 September
Moroccan courses: 11, 12, 13 and 14 November. Information:
