GOING FURTHER
To include amateurs, enable them to realise a dream and meet a human challenge, is the Dakar's main vocation. In order to approach the adventure under the best conditions and wherever possible avoid having one's experiences spoilt by mere piloting or navigating errors, “Dakar courses” with practical and theoretical training have been organised since last year. On the programme: overcoming obstacles, training in the use of GPS, study of a road-book, etc
all supervised by real rally raid specialists, starting with the inventor of the itinerary himself, Patrick Zaniroli.
In light of the success of the Narbonne session in preparation for the 2004 Dakar, a series of two theoretical courses in France and one practical course in Morocco (open to all) will enable pilots to acquire the minimum indispensable technical knowledge and to familiarise themselves with the Dakar environment. Every new competitor, by car or motorcycle, is entitled to take part in one of the two courses organised in France for the sum of € 100 (1).
The dates
Courses in France: 10 and 11 July, 18 and 19 September 2004.
Course in Morocco: 11, 12, 13 and 14 November 2004.
