“After all, I am not so young anymore…”

After numerous motorcycle adventures, 71-year-old Alfredo Cavozza will switch to the ‘comfort’ of a Nissan Terrano to make his Dakar dream come true. From his first Motocross laps in the ‘60s, Cavozza always wanted to slide on the dunes and has decided now is the time to finally make it happen. For the challenges ahead, Cavozza will also count on his past experience as a truck driver as well as the invaluable advice of 59-year-old co-driver Adriano Furlotti, competing in his fifth Dakar. The duo successfully tested their machinery and team work during a trip through Libya, Tunisia and Morocco, leaving them eager to face the main event.

A.C.: “My past motorcycle adventures through the Middle East convinced me that I would feel more comfortable doing the Dakar by car - after all, I am not so young anymore! It’s something I’ve always dreamed of and testing in Morocco has left me confident to face this challenge. I don’t want to sound arrogant, but I'm not anxious or afraid. We are prepared for it and the important thing is to arrive at the finish.”

A.F.: “Participating in the Dakar is a surreal experience, with each race equivalent to ten years of normal life. Every year that I participate, I challenge myself as a person and grow. It’s an experience you cannot find anywhere else.”
