Yuxiang Liang became something of an internet sensation in April 2016, when semi-naked photos of him sporting an impressive six-pack went viral. Nothing too unusual about that, except that he was 61 years old at the time. A keen bodybuilder who refuses to be defined by his age, the Chinese entrepreneur has also developed a passion for motor racing, and is now ready to fulfil his dream of participating in the Dakar for the first time at the age of 64. Having worked in rubber and clothing factories in his youth, Yuxiang set up the successful Huati Lighting business in the early 1990s, and even installed a gym at his factory after being bitten by the fitness bug, to encourage his employees to get in shape as well. His company has now joined forces with the team of Chinese Dakar legend Zhou Yong for this 2019 edition of the rally, where Yuxiang will be hoping to prove that age is just a number alongside co-driver Hongtao Kou in a Toyota Hilux.
The life of an old man should never be limited to looking after grandchildren and practising line dance. An old man can dream big as well."
