The Argentinian-American leader of the quad race holds a lead of 13′20″ over Frenchman Alexandre Giroud.

"I led from the front knowing that the three riders behind me would catch up with me. We spent the stage together. I stayed behind them to keep an eye on my navigation and see if they made any mistakes, but they didn't. Sure, they made some time, but I'm still slightly ahead of them and tomorrow I'll start behind them. In the quad race, my lead is not sufficient to control the race. Even the tiniest problem costs you at least 10 minutes. My strategy is to keep going on the attack whenever I start from behind and play it safe whenever I open the stage."
