Adrien Van Beveren: "We need to avoid unnecessary mistakes at all cost"

Dakar 2019 | Stage 6 | Arequipa > San Juan de Marcona
January 13 th 2019 - 15:14 [GMT -5]

Adrien Van Beveren finished fifth today and is also sitting fifth overall, still a threat at less than 10 minutes behind new leader Pablo Quintanilla. The Yamaha rider is banking on a war of attrition.

"The rest day was a godsend because we've been having short nights. Today's special was hard. I stopped to help Santolino after he crashed, and it always feels weird, but I think he's okay and that's what really matters. I rode with Toby Price for most of the stage, we pushed hard, but I think his wrist hurt. It was very tricky, we had to stay focused. It's intense and we need to avoid unnecessary mistakes at all cost. I'll keep riding consistently and hoping all this work will pay off."
