Fourth on today’s stage, one minute and a half behind Sébastien Loeb after a fairly slick special, Giniel de Villiers has taken over the lead in the car category general standings.
“We had a good stage. We had a good start and we caught up after one hundred and twenty or one hundred and thirty kilometres with… well, at first I thought it was Yazeed, then I thought it was Vasilyev but then I saw it was Jakub. We were in his dust for about two hundred kilometres. There was then a section in the dunes and I caught him, but then we got to a piece in the fesh-fesh where I had to fall back again, so it cost us a few minutes. But, you know, at the end of the day, there is no point taking a risk on day two in the dust or in the fesh-fesh like that, so we just decided to stay there. I managed to pass him in the dunes in the end. It was all okay, there were no problems, we had a good clean stage and the car was very good”.
