Shibalov, a precious asset for the Kamaz team

In the Kamaz squad, the secret to success is linked to their outstanding heritage. Edition after edition, new crew members appear on the Dakar after having spent years understanding the philosophy of the team and the specificities of the blue truck. Experience is gained by listening to the elders, by sitting at their sides on various races including the Dakar, by helping team mates to capture glory. In such a successful team, one learns from the youngest age and matures to one day become a key element and potential race winner. Like so many before him, Anton Shibalov was raised in Tatarstan, home of the famous manufacturer. He learned from the best, starting with the master himself, Vladimir Chagin. The Russian was given a first opportunity to compete on the Dakar as a driver back in 2014 and he certainly made the best of it, capturing a very promising 5th spot, helping Karginov to win that year. Despite his 19th place, he was again extremely precious in Kamaz’s quest to win again and played an essential role in helping Eduard Nikolaev re-conquer the Dakar crown from arch rival Gerard De Rooy in 2017. After a break from the Dakar, Shibalov returns having far more experience essentially gained on the Silk Way Rally that he finally conquered after finishing twice on the podium. Alongside Dmitrii Nikitin and Ivan Tatarinov (a newcomer on the Dakar), Shibalov will certainly be ready to take bigger responsibilities if requested.
