« I didn’t feel strong enough, but now the time has come »

Jaromir Romancik’s name may still be unknown in the universe of rally-raid, but enduro specialists know him well. He’s a national champion and world-class rider. He led the Czech Republic squad to third place on the ISDE podium in 2016. The rider from Liberec has also represented his country at the Motocross of Nations. He has only recently taken up rally-raid as he didn’t feel mentally ready to try it before. During the Rallye du Maroc, Jaromir experienced the joys of navigation, an exercise in which he admits he still needs to improve. But he also finished several stages in the Top 10 in Rally 2, proving that he has the speed to do well. He now needs to assimilate all the specificities of his new discipline.

« I got a call to take part in the Dakar about ten years ago, and then again 4-5 years ago. But at the time, I didn’t feel mentally strong enough for this race, so I watched it from home. The time has come. I’m 32 years old and I think it’s time to make my dream come true. The Rallye du Maroc was tough but great. Navigation is still difficult for me, you have to separate the things and I didn’t do it well. The goal is to finish the race, but in my heart I would like to be in the Top 20. »
