The Yamaha biker spent most of the special focusing on navigation alongside defending champion Sam Sunderland.

"I caught up with Sam quite fast and then I opened the road. We did the special together. I liked it, I'm still here to learn. It's not easy, you had to be smart when looking for the waypoints, but it was fun, we got to jump a bit and do technical stuff on the sand. If I could finish second every day, it could be good! But this is only the first big stage, so I'll keep on gaining experience."
