“Finish not too far from the professionals!”
After France, Italy will be the most represented European nation of the Dakar bike race. And Diocleziano Toia will be one of the fourteen Italians at the start of the 2014 Dakar. For his first appearance on the race, the 41-year-old from Busto Arsizio will be part of the Franco Picco Racing team. Used to racing in regular car rallies back home, he will this time be riding a 450 KTM on the paths and dunes of Argentina, Bolivia and Chile.
“I only started competing on a bike two years ago at the Sardegna rally. I prepared for the Dakar by doing a lot of motocross. It helps me to be faster. For me, the Dakar is the perfect race that gives you adventure and lots of possibilities to go really fast! I hope to have the opportunity to show my potential as a rally rider. My ambition is to finish not too far from the professional biker.”
