Malle-moto challenge for Nijen Twilhaar
Bastiaan Nijen Twilhaar had two passions as a boy: skiing and motocross. After competing at a very high junior level in alpine skiing for the Dutch national team, he definitely turned to bikes. Not only as a competitor but also as a businessman. He indeed moved to the Czech Republic where he started a motocross and enduro centre, attracting riders from all over Europe. It was only natural to see him on the start line of the Dakar last year. For his first experience on the rally, the 37-year-old, part of the BAS Dakar team, managed to finish the race in 110th position and that in itself was quite an exploit, although he did finish over 25 hours behind race winner Cyril Despres. For his second Dakar, he will again be on his KTM 450 RR but this time completely on his own. Courageous Jan Bastiaan will indeed be part of the malle-moto class.
