Jean De Azevedo: “The desert is a challenge for me”

Not far from Sao Paolo, Jean De Azevedo lives in his haven. At Sao José dos Campos, he can forget the roar of the engines and spend time with his family. When you are a professional rider, this sort of quite space to relax and ready for the next battle is a must. What he likes to do aside from his career is to travel with his family including his two and a half year old daughter. He likes it so much and knows there is still a lot to discover in his home country. At 32-years of age, he can take advantage of this out of the ordinary territory, as he already does in this region: the family escapades to Chile and Argentina, to head to the snow and do some skiing are just a few of his pleasures.

Perfectly comfortable at home, Jean De Azevedo speaks and dreams of the Dakar. Over the past ten years he has participated seven times. Last years retirement during stage three was obviously unsatisfying: he will thus be back with a ten fold want and a goal that says a lot about his personality: the top 10 and if it all possible the top five. Over the past 15 years motorcycle racing has played an important role in his life. His brother André is too on this path and Jean proudly continues the family’s racing tradition. A loyalty that is found in his choice of sponsors: Jean has been under contract with the same backer for the past 12 years. Except for the 2006 edition, De Azevedo has finished in the top ten three consecutive times. Loyalty and consistent performance: together to go far on the Dakar.
