Henk Knuiman: “I have enjoyed success on the Dakar”
To qualify Henk Knuiman in just a few words, you could say he is an ace, because this amateur rider has put in excellent results on each of his Dakar participations. A very fine and prophetic 17th place in his first rally in 1999 was followed by a personal best and remarkable 8th place finish among the best of the very best in the motorcycle division. . And Henk confirmed his strong results with a 12th place finish last year. Henk Knuiman comes from a family of bike riders. His father Hendrikus Knuiman race in the 1982 edition of the Dakar and finished 15th. Young Henk first climbed onto a motorcycle at the tender age of five and went onto race in endurance competitions with five participations in the world championship. Since, the father has kept a close eye on his son the ace. Henk Knuiman senior (father and son share the same name, Henk is an abbreviation of Hendrikus) will be on hand at the start of the rally in Lisbon as well as the finish line at Dakar. To celebrate the fourth arrival in as many attempts for his son? Clearly that is what both are hoping for and in the top ten if at all possible!
