ALGAY Gilles - FRA - 12/05/1969

Gilles Algay: “When I can lend a hand I don’t hesitate.”

The statistics and results speak for themselves. Five Dakars, not a single retirement and constant progression: 45th in 2005, 19th in 2004, 24th in 2003, 26th in 2002 and a career best 16 in 2006. Gilles Algay’s reputation is that of a sportsman, who, while he competes for a top finish never hesitates in stopping to help a fellow competitor. He had been a member of Team Eurostar for the past three years with close friends Eric Croquelois and Eric Piroud. Yet, this year Team Eurostar was disbanded, despite the company’s decision to continue to provide personal sponsorship to the former members of the team – with a reduced budget. What is really new for the 2007 edition is the participation of Gilles Algay’s cousin Jean-Marc Rhodes, the man who introduced him to motorcycles and gave him his first riding lesson. A family adventure that will add something quite special to the rally.
