Jacek Czachor: “I have no bad memories on the Dakar”

He isn’t the kind to have a triumphant attitude but the Polish rider is well aware of his qualities. Jacek Czachor started his first Dakar on a bike back in 2000 and managed an excellent 46th position overall. Since then he has competed on seven occasions and never quit the race. A few upsets of course but nothing too serious that this professional mechanic wasn’t able to solve. Added to that, Jacek Czachor has maintained an excellent level of consistency, finishing in the leading bunch of riders and even improving his overall positions year after year. From 46th in 2000 he flew all the way up to 20th spot in 2002. He again managed a ten position leap two years later and finished tenth of the 2004 Dakar, his best performance so far. Since then he has been close to the Top 10 each year (12th in 2005; 14th in 2006). This year, Jacek dreams of continuing his impressive series in this two-wheel class where falls can quickly occur and withdrawals are frequent. The Polish really only has one worry concerning the rally: dust! The best way to avoid the clouds of dust of the other competitors is of course to battle for the leading positions and naturally leave the dust behind him rather than having it in his helmet. It is maybe for such a reason that for quite a few years now Jacek Czachor has been one of the men to watch in the race leadership.
