Miguel Puertas: “Between the sky and the desert”
In his job, he flirts with the stars and views things from high above. Miguel is a member of the “Aguila d’Espagne’ squadron. For the past six years he’s been flying a C-101 and each year he participates in 35 exhibitions. By day, by habit, but also because it is stipulated in his contract with the Air Force, Miguel has only two more years of service in one of the four squadrons of this type in Europe. He isn’t worried about the future. He has already flown an F-5 and F-18, there’s no time for regrets in his personal or sporting life. Having flown for 15 years puts everything into perspective. In his way of looking at life, everything should be mastered. Cultivate a calm demeanour, never make a mistake, learn to be patient and be able to react in less than a second. Miguel has come to the Dakar because he liked the idea. The adventure, the level of competition and the demands. Nothing he doesn’t already understand. Even for a jet fighter pilot, the Dakar remains the Dakar.
