Partners

TotalTotal will once again be lending its support to the Dakar in 2006, thus demonstrating its loyalty to an event that reflects some of the Group's own values such as daring, the spirit of enterprise and solidarity.

Beyond its title as official partner, Total will be focusing on its two main lines of action:

Providing assistance to competitors via the Total Fair Play Trophy and the Elf Motorcycle Trophy. Introduced in 2002/2003, these trophies have since become a Dakar.

Open to all caravan members, the Total Fair Play Trophy rewards the man or woman who has shown proof of exemplary sporting spirit or exceptional combativity. At the end of each stage, this award, along with a bonus of 1,000 euros, is decided by a tripartite jury (A.S.O., media, Total). Courage, perseverance, helping others out, sportsmanship, these are some of the values that will be rewarded.

For those bikers registered free of charge, the Elf Motorcycle Trophy enables them to benefit from a free award in the shape of produits, logistic and technical assistance through a plane specially dedicated to the operation, and finally psychological and moral support. A bonus of 15,000 euros is shared at race end by the first five.

Fuel supply

The Total group boasts close and special links with the African continent. Present in over 40 African countries, the Group is quite naturally the ideal logistic partner for organiser A.S.O. Planned for over several months, thorough organisation ensures that refuelling requirements of the imposing land-based and air-borne fleet can be met, whether at bivouacs set up at airfields or in the heart of the desert (in-race refuelling for motorcycles and helicopters).
…and this year will be sponsoring the “Dakar Challenge by Total”. This operation will enable a crew chosen from among 55 countries to be at the start of the next Euromilhões Dakar.

Last, but not least, as has become customary, Total will be pulling out all the stops, particularly within the framework of its partnerships, to ensure that, day by day, on TV, radio, in the press or via Internet, everyone experiences the extraordinary adventure of the Dakar.
