Fidelia, The Dakar medical team, Official supplier

Fidelia Assistance has been in charge of medical assistance on the Dakar for the last 12 years.

For an exceptional event, exceptional means and exceptional results. On average Fidelia carries out 1,400 medical interventions on the rally each year.

Just like the competitors, its Medical Directors prepare “their Dakar”:
- by actively participating in the reconnaissance missions,
- by evaluating and preparing potential interventions on each stage.

In this way the 40 strong multidisciplinary medical team can devote itself entirely to its mission: the medical safety of all involved.


ON THE RALLY: the team relies on a tested and adapted logistic structure divided up in the following way:

• alongside the competitors, on all the stages, 22 people in a fleet of 8 four wheel drive medical vehicles, 3 sweep up trucks and 3 medical helicopters.

• at the bivouac, for all competitors,
- a medical team of 16 people assisted by 2 organisation personnel,
- a field hospital which can be adjusted in size and 4 tonnes of medical equipment,
- 1 aeroplane.


IN PARIS, 24H A DAY

- a “Dakar service” of 7 people,
- medical regulation teams to organise repatriations for health reasons,
- transport services ready to intervene at a moment’s notice.
